Katie Whalen, MA, CRC, LLPC
Biography
Katie Whalen is a Disability Specialist and TRIO Grant Specialist at Wayne State University. After obtaining her MA from Wayne State University, Katie joined Student Disability Services as a full-time Disability Specialist in May 2023. Katie supports students in the TRIO SSS program, as well as a caseload of students with disabilities. Her educational background includes rehabilitation counseling, mental health, and art therapy.
Katie is passionate about promoting accessibility in higher education and advancing opportunities for students with disabilities. She utilizes a holistic, strength-based approach to help students achieve their academic goals and enhance student success by fostering self-advocacy, community, and inclusivity. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, drawing, and solving crossword puzzles with her dog, Wynston.
