Words from a CAPS Counselor

Written by Sheila Lewis on May 25th, 2023

I am grateful for the services that are in place to help students succeed at Wayne State! Sometimes, students are not aware of the various services available to them or how to begin the process of getting services, so I am happy to serve them in getting their needs met.  My role as a Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Crisis Specialist is pivotal in helping students with mental health concerns and students who are experiencing challenges related to academics, family, relationships, housing, etc. The best part of what I do is seeing the transformation in students when they are utilizing the services available to them and coping with their circumstances or situation. I will continue to do my best to inform, assist, and guide students to achieve their dreams and this is made possible through services such as those provided by Student Disability Services.
